Leadership

FVJWC is run by women just like you, that have a passion for giving back to our community through service.  Each year, a new board of directors is elected to ensure we are living out the FVJWC mission.

Meet our 2019/2020 Executive Committee

Cristen Austgen

President 2017-2021

My family and I have lived in the Fox Valley region for 14 years.  I have a passion for service and have held various board positions with PTA, Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations, including Plainfield Junior Woman's Club.  I enjoy giving back to my community and engaging others, including my children to do the same. My goal is to inspire the women in our local communities to get involved with FVJWC and make a difference together!

Kimberly Karas

Vice President 2019-2021

Hi! I’m a retired stay-at-home mom-if there is such a thing! I’ve volunteered with school, church, the neighborhood, other charities and scouts since my oldest boy started Kindergarten. I would call myself a professional volunteer-if you need me, I’m there! I really enjoy giving back and love what I do for FVJWC!

Shelbey Hammond

Treasurer and Club Advisor 2017-2021

“Be the change you want to see in the world,” Mahatma Gandhi.  I currently live in Plainfield and have been a member of the Plainfield Junior Woman’s Club since 2009 (founded in 2008). I have served as Health Committee Chair, Education Committee Chair, Corresponding and Recording Secretary, Vice President, President, Club Advisor and have been extremely lucky to Co-Chair the Plainfield Juniorettes for the past 3 years (girls 8th -12th grade dedicated to community service and volunteerism). I also serve on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy Counties and Will County Take Back the Night. I am so excited to be a part of establishing FVJWC and helping to guide them to success!  “Sky is the limit and you know that you keep on, just keep on pressing on, ” Christopher Wallace.

Jennifer Brooks

Recording Secretary 2019-2021

Hello- I moved to the Fox Valley area 14 years from my hometown, Galesburg IL.

I have one daughter, and I’ve always set out to be an example to her and others thru service. I’ve been involved with several community activities including the PTO thru school, Church volunteer, and several other local organizations. I enjoy participating in activities that have a mission to give back. I joined FVJWC in February 2018 and what I’ve enjoyed most about our club is our collaboration as a group of women who value and love to serve others.  Join us today in helping make a difference!

Carolyn Leard

Corresponding Secretary 2017-2021
